How To Write For High-Traffic Information Sites To Build Buzz

I have tried many different things to build a buzz around my name and my websites, since I started online years ago.
There are things that failed miserably - and then there were things that really worked. One of them was taking strategic editorial positions at high-traffic online information sites.
I started out at Bellaonline as a home finance editor to get in the door, then I moved over to my specialties when the openings were available - in mental health and depression. Now because of a ton of other commitments, I only write and edit one department - which is Depression.
I have gained tremendous exposure and traffic to all of my other sites, because I have written and continue to write for a high-traffic and reputable website. I get the best of both worlds at Bellaonline - which include credibility and visibility. Plus I get to write about a topic I’m very passionate about:) Just make sure you carefully choose the site that you write for — and don’t commit yourself to something that would take a huge amount of time away from your own business.
1. Look for traffic ranking (get an idea over at alexa.com)
2. Look at google pageranking for the site
3. Look at the process for applying to become a writer
4. See if you get to split or keep 100% of the affiliate income made
with your articles
5. Check the forums out at these sites and see if people are visiting
and connecting with each other. Another good “traffic” sign for you.
If you’re ready to take the plunge, take a look at available topics over at the Bellaonline site now and see if any would tie in with your existing business. Other sites you may want to consider include allexperts, about, ivillage, sheknows, and soon I will be accepting writers over at my advice & counseling site - GirlShrink. (I’ll let you know when that happens.)

I really love marketing expert extraordinaire Marlon Sanders. He really teaches useful marketing information at a reasonable price. Plus - he’s a character!
So if you get a chance, go by and watch him on the new internet reality TV show - Next Internet Millionaire. It’s his turn this week - and he’s a hoot!
This is a really well-done show. I was surprised myself as I am a bit of a reality show junkie. (My husband hosted a poker show on television:) So check it out, once you’ve put the kids in bed tonight!

Don’t Forget The Basics

In an effort to do more marketing for my business, more creative development, more tweaks, more networking, more yada yada…sometimes I can forget to stay focused on completing the basics.
2. Sending out regular newsletters
3. Building Links
All of these things are important or rather they are crucial to the continued growth and success of your online business - regardless of the market.
Remember to build a solid daily plan of action around these three activities, and only then focus on the other parts of your business. I have to remember myself as I get excited about a new writing project, infoproduct, etc. to keep implementing the “basics” on a regular basis.
Its also important to remember that publishing more articles and speaking regularly with your subscribers builds credibility and confidence in you as the “expert”.
In fact, I need to listen to my own advice because I have a newsletter that I need to get out - so enough of today’s post. Just thought I’d pass on a little good karma off to the rest of you:)

Thumbs up for Trafficology Newsletter

I can’t remember when it was, maybe a few years ago — but there was a big push on the net for the launching of Simpeology by Mark Joyner and Trafficology by Nitro Marketing…and I got confused. I didn’t know who was offering what. Everyone on the web was throwing free membership offers at me. And so, I said the heck with it.
A few months ago - I joined a different marketing gold membership group and a few days ago - I received as a free gift an issue of Nitro Marketing’s Trafficology Newsletter (Platinum Edition).
At first, I was like “whoa!”, did I sign up for this thing again?
But then I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the envelope (read that it was a free gift) and received my two audio cd’s and an info-packed printed newsletter chock full of traffic building tips. Very nice! There was even a free tool for members - which was a free download of the new “Peel Away Ads” ad tool that is getting so much “buzz” lately. All I had to do was go to the companion Trafficology site and download it at the members area.
I was excited because this was a tool I was planning to purchase anyway. But FREE is even better:)
I really have to admit that while I’m not sure what happened when they launched, that they now have really created a wonderfully useful newsletter that is full of “new” information for online business owners like us:)
So if you were confused like me or unimpressed at the time - I highly recommend that you give this newsletter another try. There are two levels - gold and platinum, but either option gives you the newsletter and an audio cd every month.
If you’re interested, they are currently running a limited offer for new members to try out the newsletter at the gold level for two months FREE. Check out the site, sign up for your free issues, and let me know how you like it.
