Twitter A Little Easier On Your Mac

Sometimes the problem with Twitter and other social networking sites is that you have to constantly log on in order to update your tweets on a regular basis. That’s why it takes so many people so long to really get the hang of it. Especially those making money. I mean that’s just one more thing to do right?
Well there are a few applications out there that will allow you to twitter straight from your desktop, but the one I really like is for Mac users (sorry PC users:) and it’s called Twitterrific.
Simply download the application, log into your twitter account, and you have a nice small twitter box that you can tuck in the corner or in one of your mac spaces, where you can read current tweets and also create ones. It’s extremely easy. And You can use it on your iphone or ipod touch as well.
Follow me on twitter — I will be tweeting more often:-)

Pimp Your Twitter Background!
August 1, 2008 by Lisa Angelettie

Now I’m sure that many bloggers and tweeters out there could do this in their sleep, but I love to add a personal touch to my social media efforts, but haven’t a lick of artistic talent. Now I like to try though — If not for anything more — but to be memorable. To stand out a wee bit more than the rest of the pack. So while everyone on myspace has pimped out backgrounds, not a lot of twitter folks do. Not yet anyway.
So I found this great post over at croncast.com - explaining how to create a simple background image that will work in twitter. You know how blue and cloudy twitter is right? Well this is what it looks like now: http://twitter.com/girlshrink

Get More One-Way Backlinks To Your Site

There’s a cool new site in Beta called Quassia where you can get a lot of backlinks to your site - which you probably already know are like pagerank gold! The more one-way backlinks you get to your site - the higher rank and more importance the search engines place on your website and it’s content.
Over at this site, you provide content or what they call “intelligence” on any topic you choose - preferably not related to your site - and you will get a backlink to your site for adding that content.
Best of all it’s totally free. And it’s probably a good idea to sign up now while it’s in Beta and get the benefit of getting in on it early. Learn more about it here.

How To Promote Your Content Rapidly To Get Real Traffic

I must admit that I have a fascination with search engine optimization tactics. I started using them back in ‘03 when I first started on the web as merely a hobby and fell in love with it. I guess because I saw real results for my site without having to pay a dime! Who doesn’t love free?
But a lot of things have changed since I first started on the web - and the old way of promoting content like articles have dramatically changed. No longer should we be trying to write as much content as we can and submit it to every directory that will accept us. And if you’re still doing that you may want to seriously consider taking a look at my upcoming article marketing course:) But having said that - a more Web 2.0 and fresh approach to getting your content out there to as many fresh eyes as possible WHILE building authoritative links back to your website is by creating your own Article Branding Kitâ„¢. So what is it?
Basically you write three to five original articles which really embodies what problems your company is in the business of solving AND post the link to those articles (which should be hosted on your own website) on all of the social media networks that you are a member of such as: facebook, myspace, etc. Any social media site which allows you to have a profile page is a good candidate. Make sure to position your ABK as a special offer or a sneak peak to make it more enticing. Now you’ve created a path of traffic back to your site while also creating a link to your site from a very authoritative website with good ranking (which is good for your site too).
*Take note that this is different from a freebie you are offering for signing up for your newsletter etc. These articles should be offered to the site visitor without obligation - as they are functioning as your extended business card. An extension of your brand.
If you want to learn more about how to design and promote your own article branding kit, look out for my upcoming article marketing course which is designed to help beginners and advanced web marketers generate tons more traffic to their sites for free! Coming in March!

As I’ve mentioned before, I have decided to focus on a few social marketing platforms and build a presence there. And then the others - I may just add a page in order to build an authoritative link back to my site and add an article branding kit on it. So if you’d like to join me, please add me to your friends list. See you on the other side:)

Getting Started With Twitter

So a few of you wrote me and asked me the same thing I was wondering - how to you get started over at Twitter. How do you get the ball rollin’?
I have found that the easiest thing to do first is to of course create an account over at Twitter, and then start promoting your content using a cool tool called TwitterFeed. What it does is take the headlines and the link to your blog posts (via your RSS feed) and post them to your Twitter account.
The tool will check for new info from your feed as often as you specify, and you can add more than one feed - which is great. I added the one from this blog as well as the feed from my advice column - AskGirlShrink.
If people are interested in your headline, they will click on the tinyurl which the tool creates to your post and presto - you’ve got traffic! Easy Bake Buzz!

How To Use Twitter For Business
January 23, 2008 by Lisa Angelettie

I have been recently writing about how I have made the decision to really narrow down and focus on a few select social media and marketing platforms in an effort to grow traffic, my list, and my brand.
So lately, I have been thinking about adding Twitter to my very short list because from what I’m gathering - it can provide a significant impact to your blog readership (if of course you write something worth reading:)
I think two bloggers who really explained the spirit of Twitter and how to use it effectively in growing your brand online are Darren from ProBlogger and Maki on Dosh Dosh. It’s not just about collecting all the “friends” you can get!
I opened a Twitter account a while ago - but didn’t really “get it”. Now I think I do - and I thought it was worth passing it forward. By the way, if you are already a Twitter user, can you share the top 3 benefits you have experienced from using it? In the meantime, I’m going to get cracking and let you know about my results.

Are You Sick Of Social Media Sites?

I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t got the time or the inclination to join every social marketing site out there, and neither can you if you are going to make any money at your business.
Pick 3 sites (including one bookmarking site) and spend a few hours a week dedicated to building a presence in those three. How do you choose? Well you have to know your market and where they hang out. You will find a different crowd on LinkedIn vs. MySpace for the most part - so find out where you fit in.
Meanwhile - you are not alone. Others are tired of all the choices too:) Watch this funny music video about the impending social media site bubble over at Jack Humphrey’s site.

Seth Godin Ranks 952 Web 2.0 Sites

There is a great advantage to harnessing the traffic power of Web 2.0 sites. The problem - is that there is a ton of them! More are popping up every minute - claiming to be the newest and hottest site out there that can drive floods of traffic to your website(s).
The truth is - is that we really had no way of knowing who was really driving traffic to our sites and who wasn’t. Most of us were listening to “word-of-mouth” marketing a.k.a. buzz to try and figure out who to use in our marketing plans.
Great “buzz” for all of those sites - but could be a waste of time for us. That’s why it’s so great that Seth Godin has collected and analyzed over 1000 web 2.0 sites and listed the 952 sites which rank high in traffic and popularity. Otherwise - worth the effort:)
