If you are reading blogs, reading papers, watching the news or talkshows etc. — everyone is making predictions for the new year aren’t they? Well it’s either predictions or resolutions; but this year I’m not into any of that jazz.
I’ve recently had a serious family illness affect my life and the lives of my children and husband, which truly put things in perspective for me (my mother is very ill). Now as I enter a new year, I want to enter into it with purpose and with an overall mission for the year. I don’t have time to waste any longer. Every minute of my day is precious to me and worth a lot.
So in my business this year, I have decided that I need to have FOCUS for 2009.
1. Instead of joining a million social sites, I’m going to focus on only a core few (thanks Jack Humphrey and Maria Reyes McDavis).
2. I’m going to focus on writing more FREE quality content for my subscribers, and getting them the information that they need from me to grow their businesses.
3. While I’m always coming up with new ideas, I’ve decided that I need to focus more on the fundamentals of my business. Writing everyday. Link building. Relationship building.
Think about the things in your business or in your life period that you need to pay special attention to. Things that you need to focus on more, so that you see better results. Life is not promised or guaranteed and neither is a profitable business. While last year all the rage was the “four hour work week”, it’s important that we realize that we need to maximize every minute of those four hours if we are ever going to see any tangible results.
So instead of floundering all over the place, like I have in the past — ready to jump to the next new project, instead I am going to get laser focused. I hope you’ll join me:-)

Writing articles has become a fair method of receiving quality traffic to your
website. Not just you provide useful information to the world, but you also get a
lot of interested people coming to your website. Writing articles has no
limitation, you can write about anything you want, on any theme you are comfortable
with. Writing articles is a fair method because you provide some useful information
to the reader and because writing articles is a good way of beating spamming and
spammers.
That is why it is so convenient to write articles.
How about receiving money for your written articles? Even better!

That’s awesome advice. Trying to keep up with all those social media sites can be overwhelming. I have chosen to concentrate on only a few as well.
I also decided to focus on building relationships with my prospects and customers. I’ve learned that this is the only way to a successful business.

Hi Lisa,
Whatever it takes for us to redecide to focus and refocus on what is important is what it takes. My dad died last month. I’ve been refocusing for a long time, but the 3 months out of state and office gave me a needed break from my routines that weren’t all working anyway.
I came back and decluttured and purged for hours. Felt great.
Yes, I’m not a great social networker as all the chatter about nothing is overwhelming to me. If one can do it, great, just not my thing.
The more chaos in the world, the more the need to stopm, get quiet, simplify and reaccess what is really important in our lives each day, minute and moment.
“We’re not here for a long time, we’re here for a good time!”
Good for you. I pray your transitional situation is healing.
