I was not an easy convert when it came to using private label articles. I think the main reason why was because I am a writer by nature. I love to write and have been writing to make a living for many years. So I really didn’t want to use someone else’s content and pass it off as my own.

But the great thing about article marketing is that you do not have to be a great or even a good writer to make it work for you. There are so many short-cuts that you can use to produce your articles quicker – and using private label articles is one of them.

So what are they? Private label articles are articles that have been ghost written by someone else and have been licensed by you to use as your own work.

You can change the byline of private label articles. You can tweak and change the content of private label articles. Basically, you can do anything you want to a private label article once you have paid for it.

The problem with some PLR articles is that they are often sold to many, many people. People who rarely tweak the articles to make them their own. So what you will find on the web, is a lot of duplicate articles. And the bigger problem with this is if the article that your site is on is not “important” in the search engine’s eyes – your article will fall into the content filter trap and never see the light of day in the search engine results.

Solution? Choose where you buy your private label articles carefully. Tweak something about the articles to make them your own. Try not to ONLY use PLR articles – but use them alternately with your own articles.

Free Article Marketing Course: Lesson 3 – Does Submitting Articles To Article Directories Really Work?

There is a lot of conflicting information out there on the web on whether or not article directories still work or are an outdated method of gaining article exposure.

Well the truth is – is that article directories seem to be here to stay. The key is to know how to use them properly.

1.    Choose article directories that have a good Google page ranking. PR4 or better.
2.    Choose article directories that are have active editors and review your work in a reasonable time. If it takes weeks, then you know that it isn’t where you want to be.
3.    Choose article directories that have very high traffic numbers unless it is a niche directory. You can check this over at Alexa.
4.    Choose an article directory that you know your potential customers and clients visit.
5.    Important – read the writer guidelines for each directory you submit to. The #1 reason why most articles are rejected is because the writer failed to follow the guidelines of the site.

Another matter of concern with article directories, is whether or not your work will suffer a duplicate content penalty if it is submitted to a zillion different directories. Well the answer to this is yes and no.

No, as a small business in the vast world of the web – your site will not be black-balled if you submit your article to a few hundred directories. Although there are some site owners out there who would disagree with me. But…

Yes, your articles will fall under Google’s duplicate content filter – and what that means is that if there 200 of the same article out there on 200 different sites – Google will filter the search engine results to only show one or a few of those articles. And most likely those will be on the sites with the most importance.

So does it really make sense to send your article to hundreds of article directories? Probably not. No one is going to see them on those other sites AND you will not gain any backlink benefit from them. Only from a few.

Free Article Marketing Course: Lesson 2 – Use Articles To Encourage Repeat Visits

It’s a marketing and sales fact that prospects do NOT buy on the first visit to your site. In fact, they don’t buy on the second, third, fourth, fifth, or sixth visit! That’s right, statistics prove that prospects need to be exposed to your message at least seven times before they buy. I know first hand that this is true – because I’m one of those prospects! I must get to know the business I am going to do business with first – before I buy. And the same will hold true with people who visit your website. So the question then remains, how do you get people to come back to your website again and again?

The answer is to – write fresh content. When you write new and fresh articles over and over, whether they are via your blog, article directories, or a newsletter – you will encourage people to come by your site as often as you offer them something new to read.

Write seven new articles and you have a potential sale! Better yet — put those articles on an autoresponder and automatically expose new visitors to your site (once the opt-in) to your seven articles on auto-pilot.

Remember, when you offer your visitors FREE and useful content over and over – you begin to build a relationship with them, trust, and naturally a future sale.

Free Article Marketing Course: Lesson 1 – Claim Your Niche With Articles

When I first started out on the web, I had no idea that I was trying to penetrate a saturated niche – relationships. I just got started and let the chips fall where they may. What I soon quickly realized was that when I started writing relationship articles on my site and submitting them to other sites – that my site quickly began to gain relevance, importance, and most importantly — traffic.

If you are just starting out on the web, or even if you have been online for a while and haven’t penetrated your niche – writing the articles just may be the ticket for you. This is how you should do it.

1. Find relevant keywords in your niche using keyword finder tools such as wordtracker.
2. Start out by writing one article every other week.
3. Write A 400-500 word article.
4. Add one of your keywords into the title and into the body of your article.
5. Don’t get caught up on how often you mention your keyword in your article. Just make sure that it is in your title and mentioned at least twice in your article.
6. Submit your article to relevant sites, especially ones that prospects in your niche like to frequent.
