What Time Should I Post To Twitter?

I really love social marketing, but like most of you my time is limited, I really need to maximize how much time I spend on social marketing and make sure that I am getting the most bang for time spent online. Especially on my favorite social marketing tool – Twitter.

So I asked one of my good friends, group coaching mastery expert, Wendy Y Bailey  (@WendyYBailey) who seems to really use Twitter smartly and effectively – “Hey WendyY, when are the prime times to send out tweets?”

Wendy roughly estimates that: 7-9:30 am ET or 7-10 pm ET are the prime times to tweet.

I suppose that makes sense. People are just logging into their computers at work in the am around those times and can check email, Twitter, and Facebook before they get to work. Also, people obviously spend more time on the computer after dinner, so 7 to 10pm makes sense.

So if you want to send out your tweets in front of many of your followers, these may be the ideal times.

*UPDATE: Of course now we can post our tweets during the prime Twitter hours for our niche without having to be online at that time. We can set up autotweets using a variety of free online Twitter tools.  I use Hootsuite to do this.

Does anyone else have suggestions on the best times to tweet? If so, tell us here. We’d love to know!

I agree with the above Tweeting times. I have also received good feedback Tweeting from 2pm to 4pm Central time. Twitter is at its slowest around this time because of the heavy load. Check it out. Try Tweeting between 2:30 and 3:30pm Central time.

This is very interesting and I'd never thought about this. A related question, is there an optimal time to READ twitter? IE at such and such a time you are the most likely to find the most recent and useful tweets?

I would think that the best time to post would be also the best time to read. Although I suppose it's really relative to who and what types of topics you are following. For instance, in my husband's niche (music) you will find most of your useful tweets after 7pm because music industry folks work really late.

Thanks for stopping by Julie:)
