August Article Ideas

August 12, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie Leave a Comment

For some reason I think of August as a “lazy” month because it’s so hot (where I live) and because most therapists vacation in August. Better not have a mental health crisis in August! All the good therapists are on a cruise. So in the spirit of keeping you writing, and not just sitting by the pool this month, here’s a list of August article ideas you can use to generate content for your site(s), the directories, etc. Write about these month long observances.

American Artist Appreciation Month
Don’t the artists from other countries get all the glory? Here’s a great chance to write about HOT or new American artists. You can request an interview (which most artists will gladly give you to gain the exposure). You could write about art-related topics and tie them into your business. Example: the use of color in a piece or the absence of art progams in American schools. Use American artists work as examples in your pieces. (Show pictures but make sure to give proper credit to artist and owner of picture.) Affiliate article marketers can promote artist pics and replicas via affiliate programs such as art.com

Foot Health Month
Our feet are way more important then we give them credit for. They get us from point A to point B everyday, in uncomfortable shoes, with zero complaints:) It’s only fitting we give them a little love in August. You can write plenty of articles on foot health, foot massage, pedicures, trends in pedicures, reflexology, foot disorders, podiatry, better foot care, shoes, exercise and feet, sizing your shoes properly, and of course the list can go on and on. Just use a little imagination! Affiliate article marketers can promote foot care products, shoes, exercise programs that are low-impact on the feet, etc.

Home Business Month
Here’s a fantastic topic to write about, because most of us know first-hand what it is to start and run a home business. We’ve all seen the general articles on starting a home biz, so now is the chance to dig a littler deeper for those long-tail keyword phrases and write about sub niches within this market. You could go local: Example: Philadelphia Home Business Affiliate article marketers can promote a lot of great home business start-up programs, ebooks, products on Clickbank, books on Amazon, and any types of products which support a home business.

National Catfish Month
Recipes! Recipes! Recipes! Okay so what else? Where do catfish come from? Where are they caught? Farm raised vs. Wild caught. How to eliminate catfish odor when cooking. Affiliate article marketers can promote recipe books, fishing products like reels, bait, (this is a big hobby!), and how to be better fisherman books, etc.

National Golf Month
Are you kidding me? With Tiger Woods in the media all the time there is plenty of news related items you can write and comment on. You can of course talk about improving one’s golf game. Children and golf – building character. Best golf excursions. Better golfing tips. Golf and business networking. Affiliate article marketers can promote anything golf related from products like clubs, balls, gear to books and ebooks on building a better golf game.

National Inventors Month
Here’s a great topic. You could do a ton of interview articles on new inventors. Write articles on old patents expiring. Feature articles on best inventions in your niche. Example: Home business owners could do a feature on the history of computer inventions. It truly revolutionized how we do business. Affiliate article marketers can find new products to promote in this niche. Technically they are new inventions. Like the ones you see on “As seen on TV”. They have an affiliate program you could join to promote all the products you see on television.

National Water Quality Month
Is the water in your area okay to drink, shower in, cook with? Hey, I don’t know but maybe you could find out and write a bunch of localized articles on area water quality. Affiliate article marketers could absolutely promote water testing kits.

LeBron James Article Ideas

July 17, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 3 Comments

Lebron James Article IdeasI know what you’re thinking. The buzz is over. He made his decision. Okay he did, and now that all the journalism heavy hitters have written their articles on LeBron James as a free agent, his mother’s alleged indiscretion, his desire to win, his move, and all the other stuff that went with it — we small fish can piggy back off of the “after glow” and rank for other related LeBron James articles.

I don’t care what your niche is, there probably is a way to tie this entire James story into your business. Even if you sell cupcakes! For example, say you sell facial cleansing products and moisturizers, you could write a story about how that the massage oil product you make can help LeBron relax after all this positive and negative hoopla and media attention. I’d name it perhaps: How To Help Lebron James Relax

Here are a few article ideas to help you get started…

1. Write about branding. This LeBron James story is perfect for a branding coach. Here’s an example: 5 Branding Lessons We Can Learn From LeBron James

2. Write about whether you’d choose money vs. some other sort of success in your business. (LeBron chose the desire to win a championship over money)

3. If you live or run a business in Miami, this is a great time for you to write articles that not only get LeBron search engine juice but local seo power as well. Write about what your business can offer LeBron. Write about how his presence in Miami would affect your business.

4. Sadly we could make the same case for Cleveland business owners. How will LeBron’s departure affect your business?

5. Write a feature on NBA families or families who have to move for work. LeBron will probably relocate his family to his new city. How do big moves based on career affect families.

6. Write about NBA triads. Does the 3 man team really mean NBA success.

7. Write about the media attention paid to this story. ESPN dedicated a lot of time and hours to covering James’ decision.

8. Write about how social media factored into this story. Reporters were following players’ comments on this story via Twitter in real-time. It was nuts!

9. Just based on the interest in this player, write basic info articles on him. His high school basketball career. Family life. Friendships. Mentors. Other interests.

10. You could always write an opinion piece on some aspect of this story. How you might have handled things differently. Reaction to Cavaliers owner’s comments. How this affects next season. Or whatever opinion you may have.

Hope these Lebron James article ideas inspire you to write. I’m sure if you sit for a minute, you can come up with 10 additional ones and take advantage of the traffic surge that is sure to come your way.

Article Ideas: How To Write A Real Life Success Story Article

June 25, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 4 Comments

One of the biggest obstacles with article writing and article marketing is the level at which some people can produce new and fresh content. I know that many of us have sat many an hour staring at our blank computer screens wondering where the inspiration was going to bubble up from!

Yet I believe that many of us creative authors, speakers, coaches, and other solopreneur types get stuck because we tend to fall in the habit of over-intellectualizing our writing. It’s not that deep ‘yall! In fact, I have a great article generation tip that has probably been in front of you the whole time and you just never thought to write it down.

Do you have coaching clients? How about even one? Do you have customers who have said “thank you!” If you do, even if you have just one, you have a great article idea. Writing an article about a customer or client success story is a real easy article for you to write for several reasons:

1. You know the story already. You have lived it in real life. You know what you did for the customer or client, how their business or lives benefited from what you do, and the end result. So there is no research involved or worrying about how to explain the information. This is real easy – just tell what happened.

2. You can use a lot of direct quotes in your success story which helps the article read almost like a 400 word testimonial! So these type of articles pack a wallop of benefits for you and your business. This is an example of an article idea that can truly send you “qualified” prospects back to your site and sets you up as an automatic authority.

3. People love success stories. Have you ever bought one of those woman’s health related magazines simply for the fact that you wanted to read the exercise success stories? How about that yearly issue of a couple of the main trade magazines that feature real-life weight loss success stories?

You know why they feature those every year? Because people gobble them up at the supermarket. We love REAL LIFE success stories, because if someone else was able to do it then we become really inspired that we can succeed as well. It’s all about how they relate to the person being featured.

So How Do I Write A Good Real-Life Success Story Article?

Article Ideas For June

June 11, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 6 Comments

It’s getting hot outside (depending on where you live), and I bet you rather hang out by the pool than struggle with coming up with article ideas — right? Well if you need a few article suggestions for June, I think I have a few to get you moving in the right direction. These are all article ideas based on holidays or observations associated with the month of June:

Dairy Month

You could essentially write about anything dairy related such as cheeses around the world, organic milk, probiotic yogurt, etc.

Great Outdoors Month

This is a great one because you could write about any thing that you like to do, that your business supports or promotes, etc. outdoors. For instance, about the only thing that I LOVE to do outdoors is gardening. I’ve gotten the bug since I’ve moved into my big ‘ole colonial home, and I am positive that I could find a way to tie gardening into writing or one of my other niches that I write in. Tie-ins are actually very easy if you don’t over think them.

Finally your business may be an outdoor one such as selling camping products, pool accessories, or bicycles. So write all about those activities and run a promotion during the month of June.

National Adopt-A-Cat Month

Obviously, you can write all about the benefits of adopting kittens and cats. Pet adoption is great for families, the elderly, and those suffering from depression.

National Drive Safe Month

Driving safety is a HOT topic right now. Especially with the increase of accidents involving people who are texting while driving or are using their cellphones. You can write plenty of articles with driving safety tips, etc.

National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month

It use to be quite popular years ago, but now it’s coming back. City and suburbanites alike are planting apple trees, pear trees, peach trees, blueberry bushes, and building vegetable gardens in even the smallest of backyards. You can write hundreds of tip articles, how-to articles, as well as articles on the benefits of consuming fresh fruit and vegetables.

National Iced Tea Month

Hey, I love a good ‘ole southern sweet tea. What about sun tea? How about all the new flavored iced teas now? Peach. Green Tea. Raspberry. Can you share some recipes in your articles?

National Rose Month

Roses are the official flower for June, and of course I love them because I have a June birthday:) So I would love to see plenty of articles on the best roses to plant depending on where you live (hardiness zones), how to care for roses, de-bug roses, winterize rose bushes, etc.

National Safety Month

You can’t quote me on this, but I was listening to a news program that said that most bodily injuries and accidents happen in the home. So isn’t that the perfect stat for writing dozens of articles on safety in the home: bathtubs, showers, electrical repairs, gardening, roofing, cooking, etc. Not to mention that you could write articles about safety in relation to your business.

National Tennis Month

This is the season for tennis, and it’s a great sport for children and for adults to stay in shape. You can write about tennis fashion, tennis racquets, tennis lessons, tennis camps, national tennis programs, tennis injuries and more.

Potty Training Awareness Month

Who knew that there was a potty training awareness month? But you know what, maybe there should be, because potty training is tough! I have 3 kids and it was no walk in the park. So let’s give it up to all the moms and dads out there struggling with potty training. Especially when you want to get your child into a preschool and they request that your child already be potty trained! That’s why a lot of great tips articles on potty training would benefit parents. This is also a great topic to monetize as there are a ton of potty training videos, potties, potty training books, etc. available via Amazon or Clickbank.

Turkey Lovers Month

Many families have turned away from cooking red meat such as ground beef and pork and use turkey instead (which is leaner) in their favorite recipes. This is a great opportunity for recipe articles, types of turkey cuts, etc. Or you could go in another direction and write about the raising or farming of turkeys. Books or poems featuring turkeys. Thanksgiving and turkeys.

Zoo and Aquarium Month

Write about new animals or exhibits at your local zoo. Write about ways you can rent or use the zoo in your area for other than visiting. For example, I once went to a wedding hosted in the gardens of a zoo. It was beautiful and a bit off season, so there was no smell:) Aquariums is a great affiliate topic. People who own fish and aquariums spend a lot of money on tanks, filters, fish, fish food, and other accessories associated with the keeping of aquariums.

Give Your List The The Gift Of Information This Valentine’s Day!

February 14, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 7 Comments

valentine's day giftHappy Valentine’s Day. Yes, I know it’s a “Hallmark” holiday, but I kind of like it anyway. Any excuse to say those three little words that we may not say in our everyday hustle and bustle is alright with me.

Today is my daughter’s birthday, so we spend most of our time on Valentine’s Day, planning a birthday celebration that usually involves a lot of kids!

And while this is not an official holiday, it’s a fun one, and it’s also a great opportunity for you to “gift” your list with another article from you. Just some quick tips to make this a little more powerful:

1. If you can, send a note and link to your new article to your list via email in a nice Valentine’s themed template. There are some great ones that I had to choose from over at aweber; in fact if you are on my list, you should get a cute little Valentine’s article gift from me today!

2. Give your list an article that is a little more useful and less general. One with a top 5, 7 or 10 list. One with step by step directions. One with a list of resources. You know something that they has a lot of info value.

3. If you have a free pdf you’ve been holding onto, or some sort of other free item that your list would enjoy, this is a great time to gift it to them. I got a lot of those from folks whose lists I am on, and I liked them. Especially when they tied it in to Valentine’s Day.

4. Don’t make a big production out of this. Just get it done. It should literally take you no longer than 10 minutes if the article is already written and if not, maybe 30. Do it early and then spend the rest of the day with your valentine!

February Article Ideas

February 4, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 7 Comments

Looking for a little inspiration to get your juices flowing? Hey, I’ve been there a zillion times. On those days where the article ideas are just not coming to you, here are some February article ideas (holidays) you can write about and/or tie-in to your business.

February is American Heart Month – it’s important especially to write about heart disease in regards to women. It is the #1 disease for women, but many doctors have been trained and are still focused on heart disease in men.

February is Black History Month – you can write about so many historical and current figures who have made an impact in U.S. history.

February is National Children’s Dental Month – this is a big topic in my house because of my daughter who is on the autism spectrum. Dentist visits are especially hard for kids on the spectrum and so we focus a lot on better dental health.

Holidays Include:

Feb 2 – Ground Hog Day (we missed it but save it for next year or you can write about what it means that they groundhog did or didn’t see his shadow:)

Feb 6 – Pay A Compliment Day

Feb 8 – Kite Flying Day & Table Manners Week

Feb 12 – Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday

Feb 14 – Valentine’s Day (great affiliate article marketing holiday!)

Feb 15 – President’s Day

Feb 17 – Ash Wednesday

Feb 20 – Love Your Pet Day  (you know I love my doggie Pepperz:)

Feb 22 – George Washington’s Birthday

Article Ideas: Valentine’s Day Article Ideas

February 2, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 4 Comments

Valentines day article ideasThis is a great time to write all about LOVE, and I promise you that you can tie in love, relationships, marriage, dating, attraction, lust, sex, weddings, or something close to it to your niche. No matter what you sell.

Also, if you are an affiliate marketer then this is a great niche for you. You can easily monetize your content with a variety of  affiliate products. So take the time to get a nice traffic surge to your articles and site(s) this month and write a few valentine’s articles. Here are a few ideas to get your juices flowing:

Shrink, Track, Share, Control ... Dominate

1. Write an article on the history of marriage.

2. Write an article on what modern marriage looks like in different countries. *Oprah covered this topic recently.

3. Write a Valentine’s article on instant attraction. How to know when the other person feels the same.

4. Write an article about love and dating someone with pets (that you hate!)

5. Write an article about how career and love can be hard to mix OR how you can find true love at work

6. Write about all these hilarious love-themed reality shows like The Bachelor or For The Love Of Ray J

7. Write about the economics of Valentine’s Day. How much money is spent annually on this holiday?

8. Write about the origins of Valentine’s Day to support or challenge the theory that it is a “Hallmark Holiday”.

9. Write top ten lists articles such as the top 10 romantic getaways, top 10 romantic songs, top 10 romantic movies, etc.

10. Write an article on your favorite couple in history.

Monetize Your Valentine’s Day Articles
Also, if you are publishing these articles on your own blog, site, or in a directory that permits affiliate links, make sure you that you monetize your articles. Valentine’s Day is a great holiday for affiliates. Want to start with the easiest and highest-converting affiliate programs?

Check out Amazon. They recently sent out an email asking me to show my Kindle some love featuring red Kindle covers, lights, and other red (Valentine) themed accessories for my Kindle.

Check out Clickbank.com if you want to feature digital content in your articles such as Get Your Ex Back, The Women Men Adore And Never Want To Leave, or 500 Lovemaking Tips And Secrets.

*Hot Tip – While it’s not too late to see some sales now, remember that you can create a Valentine’s Day or Love-Themed related WordPress blog and continually add monetized content to it so that by next year you will see a definite increase in revenue .
