October Article Ideas

September 30, 2012 By Lisa Angelettie 3 Comments

A great way to get a surge of traffic to your site on a regular basis is to write theme or holiday related articles. Especially if you write them in a way that they will bring you traffic EVERY month for that specific holiday or theme. So do not write anything really specific to the “year” that you wrote them. Just the month. Then watch the traffic roll in every month like clockwork.

October article ideas

Here Are Some Article Ideas For You For Monthly October Search Engine Traffic:

Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

I’ve noticed a lot of television commercials around this promotion lately. It is becoming a bigger monthly promotion, so it would probably be a great idea to write content around this if you can tie it into your business some way.Talk about shelter dog you adopted. Share tips and strategies for bringing home a shelter dog.

American Pharmacist Month

Very important job and great tie in for any health related niche.

Apple Jack Month

The cereal, the drink? Uh, I’m not sure about this one.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This is a big one and you’ll see a lot of activity around this topic.

Clergy Appreciation Month

Great topic for any and all Christian, Catholic or other religious themed websites.

Computer Learning Month

Anyone could probably tie this topic in with their business. We’re all online educators in a way.

Cookie Month

Isn’t it every month? (Tee-hee!)

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

A very important topic that does well with first person accounts, prevention, and how to escape strategies.

Eat Country Ham Month

I don’t eat ham, but I’m sure a lot of people do:)

International Drum Month

Great for music sites, etc.

Lupus Awareness Month

This doesn’t get the attention that say MS gets, but it’s just as serious and prevalent of an autoimmune disease. If this is your niche — get busy writing content around it. There isn’t enough.

National Diabetes Month

Another big topic. Give it a spin unique to your niche and you’ll do great in the search engines.

National Pizza Month

Recipes, health pizza versions, unique pizza toppings, how to make at home, the ideas are endless!

National Vegetarian Month

I went to the library to check out the book “Eat To Live” and I was 86th on the list! People are looking for solutions to long term health and longevity and for many that is a closer look at Vegetarianism. Show people how to convert easily and you’ll win in this niche.

National Popcorn Popping Month

Popcorn flavors. Popcorn recipes. Popcorn crafts.

Sarcastic Month

Are you serious? (LOL)

Seafood Month

Restaurant listings, seafood recipes, how seafood is caught, farm raised vs wild caught, etc.

Halloween

Obviously, you can write all Halloween and fall festive related articles as well. Here are some past articles I’ve written to help marketers write effective articles (and profit from them) on Halloween:

September Article Ideas

September 9, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 7 Comments

September Article Ideas

September 11

September Article Ideas

With the kids back at school or college, it’s time to kick your writing up a notch. Let’s crank out some great articles for September. Here are some article ideas to get your juices flowing…

September 11th

Write about the survivors of September 11th. What are they doing now? Have their lives changed in a significant way. For better. For worse. Write about the current political controversies surrounding the continued rebuilding of the area. Write about how this event affected people outside of New York, how it changed the way we view our “safety” as a nation.

Baby Safety Month Article Ideas

Write about topics such as high chairs, car seats, booster seats, toys, national recalls, fast food meal toy safety, dangerous things in the home, cleaning supplies, safety gates, SIDS, etc.

Better Breakfast Month Article Ideas

Write about the importance of a breakfast. Include statistics on school or work performance with and without eating breakfast. Also include menus and suggestions for breakfasts that are healthier, that taste better, and that are quick to make.

Cable TV Month Article Ideas

Write a piece on the history of Cable TV. Life with and without it. The cost of Cable television. You could write about lack of real competition for cable tv dollars.

Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month Article Ideas

My cousin was just diagnosed with some sort of fungus of the cornea. Both eyes. He wears contacts and if it isn’t addressed right away he could lose the sight of one of his eyes. We only have two! So you could write about children getting exams outside of school, safety when playing sports, possible eye diseases etc.

Classical Music Month Article Ideas

It’s important that we share the joy of classical music with the younger generations. Write about great composers, etc.

Library Card Sign-Up Month Article Ideas

If you write a few articles about the economy and tie it in with “escape reading” THEN add how can spend zero dollars for this by signing up at your local library – you’ll have a great article there!

National Chicken Month

Chicken recipes. Need I say more. Who doesn’t eat chicken?

National Courtesy Month Article Ideas

Let’s be a little nicer to each other. That’s what I told my daughter just today when we were shopping in Whole Foods. On the other hand, one of my other kids went on a playdate and the mother returned saying that she was well-mannered and a joy to be around. There’s something to be said about being courteous. Being kind. Being helpful and thankful. Write about it this month.

National Honey Month Article Ideas

Allergies are about to kick in strongly again. I take a spoonful of local honey to help build my immune system. Health benefits of honey! Types of honey. How honey is harvested from bees.

National Pediculosis Prevention Month Article Ideas

First of all, write an article defining what Pediculosis is. (Lice Infestation). This is the time of year that lice infestation kicks up – so write about traditional and alternative treatments. Write articles that debunk myths (only dirty people get lice), etc. Or simply write about what lice are, what they do, and why they do it to us!

National Piano Month Article Ideas

I’m about to rent a piano for my daughter to practice her lessons. The electronic keyboard doesn’t have all the keys. I sold my baby grand when we moved here. Big mistake! Pianos are pieces of art. Make sure to include lots of pics with your piano articles: making of piano, history of piano, types of pianos, etc. Famous people who play the piano: Elton John, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder

National Rice Month Article Ideas

Types of rices. Countries popular for rice crops. Rice recipes.

National School Success Month Article Ideas

This is a great time of year to write about schools who have “figured it out” and have amazing success stories. Innovative charter school stories. Everyday student stories. Articles in this niche that always do well are “Top Schools” in whatever city.

National Sewing Month Article Ideas

My daughter signed up for a two hour sewing class this month. The classes were not full which was fine by me, BUT it let’s me know that sewing is an art and a craft that has lost it’s popular appeal. It may soon be a lost art to the common man.

So it’s a great time to talk about sewing. Compare and contrast sewing in the home of yesteryear to how often we sew today — or rather who sews are garments today.

You could also write light stories about sewing the latest fashions. Sewing tips. Sewing for children. How to buy a sewing machine.

Read-A-New-Book Month Article Ideas

Sometimes my kids just don’t know what book to read next. This is a great topic to feature new authors, local authors, the hottest books on the shelves, etc. Talk about libraries and how it is so cost-efficient to borrow a book than buy one from the big local chains. Write about book groups and clubs. Write about how children are swapping books for fun.

Women of Achievement Month Article Ideas

Pick a woman you admire – write about her. Pick a woman in your community who is actually out there doing something – write about her. Pick a woman from the past who was an unsung hero for whatever reason – write about her. Write about the most powerful women in the media, entertainment, politics, etc.

Article Ideas For June

June 11, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 6 Comments

It’s getting hot outside (depending on where you live), and I bet you rather hang out by the pool than struggle with coming up with article ideas — right? Well if you need a few article suggestions for June, I think I have a few to get you moving in the right direction. These are all article ideas based on holidays or observations associated with the month of June:

Dairy Month

You could essentially write about anything dairy related such as cheeses around the world, organic milk, probiotic yogurt, etc.

Great Outdoors Month

This is a great one because you could write about any thing that you like to do, that your business supports or promotes, etc. outdoors. For instance, about the only thing that I LOVE to do outdoors is gardening. I’ve gotten the bug since I’ve moved into my big ‘ole colonial home, and I am positive that I could find a way to tie gardening into writing or one of my other niches that I write in. Tie-ins are actually very easy if you don’t over think them.

Finally your business may be an outdoor one such as selling camping products, pool accessories, or bicycles. So write all about those activities and run a promotion during the month of June.

National Adopt-A-Cat Month

Obviously, you can write all about the benefits of adopting kittens and cats. Pet adoption is great for families, the elderly, and those suffering from depression.

National Drive Safe Month

Driving safety is a HOT topic right now. Especially with the increase of accidents involving people who are texting while driving or are using their cellphones. You can write plenty of articles with driving safety tips, etc.

National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month

It use to be quite popular years ago, but now it’s coming back. City and suburbanites alike are planting apple trees, pear trees, peach trees, blueberry bushes, and building vegetable gardens in even the smallest of backyards. You can write hundreds of tip articles, how-to articles, as well as articles on the benefits of consuming fresh fruit and vegetables.

National Iced Tea Month

Hey, I love a good ‘ole southern sweet tea. What about sun tea? How about all the new flavored iced teas now? Peach. Green Tea. Raspberry. Can you share some recipes in your articles?

National Rose Month

Roses are the official flower for June, and of course I love them because I have a June birthday:) So I would love to see plenty of articles on the best roses to plant depending on where you live (hardiness zones), how to care for roses, de-bug roses, winterize rose bushes, etc.

National Safety Month

You can’t quote me on this, but I was listening to a news program that said that most bodily injuries and accidents happen in the home. So isn’t that the perfect stat for writing dozens of articles on safety in the home: bathtubs, showers, electrical repairs, gardening, roofing, cooking, etc. Not to mention that you could write articles about safety in relation to your business.

National Tennis Month

This is the season for tennis, and it’s a great sport for children and for adults to stay in shape. You can write about tennis fashion, tennis racquets, tennis lessons, tennis camps, national tennis programs, tennis injuries and more.

Potty Training Awareness Month

Who knew that there was a potty training awareness month? But you know what, maybe there should be, because potty training is tough! I have 3 kids and it was no walk in the park. So let’s give it up to all the moms and dads out there struggling with potty training. Especially when you want to get your child into a preschool and they request that your child already be potty trained! That’s why a lot of great tips articles on potty training would benefit parents. This is also a great topic to monetize as there are a ton of potty training videos, potties, potty training books, etc. available via Amazon or Clickbank.

Turkey Lovers Month

Many families have turned away from cooking red meat such as ground beef and pork and use turkey instead (which is leaner) in their favorite recipes. This is a great opportunity for recipe articles, types of turkey cuts, etc. Or you could go in another direction and write about the raising or farming of turkeys. Books or poems featuring turkeys. Thanksgiving and turkeys.

Zoo and Aquarium Month

Write about new animals or exhibits at your local zoo. Write about ways you can rent or use the zoo in your area for other than visiting. For example, I once went to a wedding hosted in the gardens of a zoo. It was beautiful and a bit off season, so there was no smell:) Aquariums is a great affiliate topic. People who own fish and aquariums spend a lot of money on tanks, filters, fish, fish food, and other accessories associated with the keeping of aquariums.

Give Your List The The Gift Of Information This Valentine’s Day!

February 14, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 7 Comments

valentine's day giftHappy Valentine’s Day. Yes, I know it’s a “Hallmark” holiday, but I kind of like it anyway. Any excuse to say those three little words that we may not say in our everyday hustle and bustle is alright with me.

Today is my daughter’s birthday, so we spend most of our time on Valentine’s Day, planning a birthday celebration that usually involves a lot of kids!

And while this is not an official holiday, it’s a fun one, and it’s also a great opportunity for you to “gift” your list with another article from you. Just some quick tips to make this a little more powerful:

1. If you can, send a note and link to your new article to your list via email in a nice Valentine’s themed template. There are some great ones that I had to choose from over at aweber; in fact if you are on my list, you should get a cute little Valentine’s article gift from me today!

2. Give your list an article that is a little more useful and less general. One with a top 5, 7 or 10 list. One with step by step directions. One with a list of resources. You know something that they has a lot of info value.

3. If you have a free pdf you’ve been holding onto, or some sort of other free item that your list would enjoy, this is a great time to gift it to them. I got a lot of those from folks whose lists I am on, and I liked them. Especially when they tied it in to Valentine’s Day.

4. Don’t make a big production out of this. Just get it done. It should literally take you no longer than 10 minutes if the article is already written and if not, maybe 30. Do it early and then spend the rest of the day with your valentine!

February Article Ideas

February 4, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 7 Comments

Looking for a little inspiration to get your juices flowing? Hey, I’ve been there a zillion times. On those days where the article ideas are just not coming to you, here are some February article ideas (holidays) you can write about and/or tie-in to your business.

February is American Heart Month – it’s important especially to write about heart disease in regards to women. It is the #1 disease for women, but many doctors have been trained and are still focused on heart disease in men.

February is Black History Month – you can write about so many historical and current figures who have made an impact in U.S. history.

February is National Children’s Dental Month – this is a big topic in my house because of my daughter who is on the autism spectrum. Dentist visits are especially hard for kids on the spectrum and so we focus a lot on better dental health.

Holidays Include:

Feb 2 – Ground Hog Day (we missed it but save it for next year or you can write about what it means that they groundhog did or didn’t see his shadow:)

Feb 6 – Pay A Compliment Day

Feb 8 – Kite Flying Day & Table Manners Week

Feb 12 – Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday

Feb 14 – Valentine’s Day (great affiliate article marketing holiday!)

Feb 15 – President’s Day

Feb 17 – Ash Wednesday

Feb 20 – Love Your Pet Day  (you know I love my doggie Pepperz:)

Feb 22 – George Washington’s Birthday

Article Ideas: Valentine’s Day Article Ideas

February 2, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 4 Comments

Valentines day article ideasThis is a great time to write all about LOVE, and I promise you that you can tie in love, relationships, marriage, dating, attraction, lust, sex, weddings, or something close to it to your niche. No matter what you sell.

Also, if you are an affiliate marketer then this is a great niche for you. You can easily monetize your content with a variety of  affiliate products. So take the time to get a nice traffic surge to your articles and site(s) this month and write a few valentine’s articles. Here are a few ideas to get your juices flowing:

Shrink, Track, Share, Control ... Dominate

1. Write an article on the history of marriage.

2. Write an article on what modern marriage looks like in different countries. *Oprah covered this topic recently.

3. Write a Valentine’s article on instant attraction. How to know when the other person feels the same.

4. Write an article about love and dating someone with pets (that you hate!)

5. Write an article about how career and love can be hard to mix OR how you can find true love at work

6. Write about all these hilarious love-themed reality shows like The Bachelor or For The Love Of Ray J

7. Write about the economics of Valentine’s Day. How much money is spent annually on this holiday?

8. Write about the origins of Valentine’s Day to support or challenge the theory that it is a “Hallmark Holiday”.

9. Write top ten lists articles such as the top 10 romantic getaways, top 10 romantic songs, top 10 romantic movies, etc.

10. Write an article on your favorite couple in history.

Monetize Your Valentine’s Day Articles
Also, if you are publishing these articles on your own blog, site, or in a directory that permits affiliate links, make sure you that you monetize your articles. Valentine’s Day is a great holiday for affiliates. Want to start with the easiest and highest-converting affiliate programs?

Check out Amazon. They recently sent out an email asking me to show my Kindle some love featuring red Kindle covers, lights, and other red (Valentine) themed accessories for my Kindle.

Check out Clickbank.com if you want to feature digital content in your articles such as Get Your Ex Back, The Women Men Adore And Never Want To Leave, or 500 Lovemaking Tips And Secrets.

*Hot Tip – While it’s not too late to see some sales now, remember that you can create a Valentine’s Day or Love-Themed related WordPress blog and continually add monetized content to it so that by next year you will see a definite increase in revenue .

Article Ideas: Writing Christmas Articles That Sell!

December 14, 2009 By Lisa Angelettie 4 Comments

Christmas Article Ideas

This is it. We’ve entered crunch time. Christmas is around the corner and you haven’t written anything holiday related for your business yet have you? Well, don’t worry — the search engine spiders are fast and can find your articles quickly as long as you write AND do the right thing.

1. Make sure you write Christmas articles that have a voice or a purpose. A general “Happy Holidays” article is not really what you are aiming for at this point. If you want to folks to buy your products or your services as gifts for others, then you have to make a compelling argument as to why they should.

– Are you running a sale? 40, 50, 60% off?

– Are you closing out the year’s inventory?

– Will you give them a gift when they click the link at the end of your article?

2. Don’t be skimpy on the information in your Christmas articles. Really give the reader something of great value. Something to make them excited to take a further step with you.

3. Publish the article(s) at a high-traffic location (ezinearticles.com) so that the hungry holiday shoppers can find it and read it in time to make a decision before Christmas.

4. Publish the article(s) on your WordPress blog or on someone else’s blog. Another way to get published and in front of eyes quickly.

5. Package & publish your articles into a special holiday edition of your newsletter. Cesar Milan (Dog Whisperer) sent one out this season that I loved. It was filled with info-packed articles, fun photos, and holiday buying suggestions.

5. Promote your Christmas articles via social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. so that you get real-time traffic to your articles.

6. Add a little holiday artwork and spice up your articles. This is the time to get festive. The key to writing Christmas articles that sell is to take Christmas article ideas and make them pop with something humorous, nostalgic, or appropriate product pics.

Have You Written Your Halloween Articles?

October 24, 2009 By Lisa Angelettie 8 Comments

I wrote an article a while back on writing Halloween affiliate article marketing articles. I wrote the article when I discovered just how lucrative Halloween is, and how there is availability for all of us to get in on the action and the money.

This is just a quick note to let you know that it is not too late to write your Halloween articles and get it crawled by the search engines. Just make sure you do a bit of social bookmarking to get a few more clicks.

Remember that getting 3 sales off of an affiliate article that you wrote in 30 minutes is better then taking zero action. Because of course that means zero results.

Even one article is a start. You can always write more articles over the course of the year so that you are seriously prepared for the Halloween season next year.
