Site Updates & Changes

November 24, 2013 By Lisa Angelettie Leave a Comment

My site is going to look a little wonky for the next couple of days because I am making some edits, some tweaks, retiring some old stuff, and adding some other stuff. I’ll be sending out an email letting you know what’s going on, especially because I haven’t written in a while.

I can quickly tell you now what I’m working on. Frankly it’s a bit of “spring cleaning” that I should have tackled a LONG time ago.

1. Getting rid of outdated resources

2. Retiring old freebies and products

3. Writing new reports

4. Writing a new book

5. Working on a training webinar

6. Cleaning up my autoresponder emails

7. Starting my editorial calendar for 2014

Look for my broadcast email to come soon:)

Getting To Know Lisa

May 4, 2011 By Lisa Angelettie 3 Comments

Getting To Know Lisa Angelettie! Uh – Sort of:)

Lisa Angelettie & Husband

Me & Hubby

Among the dozens of questions that I get on article marketing, seo, and ePublishing — I get occasional personal questions too. I guess some folks are like: “Who is this chick?” LOL!  So I thought, what the heck, why don’t I take a few of those questions and finally answer them in a post (I try to answer all of my emails too:). Also, I thought maybe another great thing would be for you guys to do the same thing, and answer the questions as well in the comment section. Oh come on – it’ll be fun! Don’t leave me hanging:)

Question 1 – What Time Do You Get Up In The Morning?

I wake up at 6:45am every weekday and about 7ish on the weekends. I wake up at this God-awful time because I have three girls who have to eat and get their hair combed before school:) Plus, I have to take my new puppies out for a morning pee (Coco and Coffee).

Question 2 – How Many Cities/States/Countries Have You Lived In?

I’ve lived only in the U.S. in: Pennsylvania: Philadelphia (birthplace) & Elkins Park, Washington D.C., Maryland, New York & New Jersey. “East Coast!!”

Question 3 – What Is The Best Thing You’ve Done So Far In Your Life?

Well, the right answer would probably be having my kids – but honestly the best thing I did was creating a life that allowed me to be home with my kids. I feel so much more connected to them and their lives than me and my mom ever did. I attribute some of that to the fact that I spend a great deal more time with my kids than my mother could with me.

Question 4 – What Is The Scariest Thing That You’ve Done So Far In Your Life?

I was absolutely petrified of having a baby naturally. When I pushed my oldest daughter out, I felt like I had officially “grown up”!

Question 5 – Do You Own A Pet?

I am a dog person. Although I grew up loving my godmother’s cats too. Dogs I’ve owned included Buttercup (Minature Poodle), Pepperz (Chow & Labrador Mix), Simba (Standard Poodle), and now Coffee and Coco (Australian Labradoodles). I can tell already which of my kids will own a pet because they must, who will never have one, and who will get one if their kids bug them enough:)

Question 6 – What Was Your First Job Ever? And What Was Your First Job In Your Field?

My first job ever was in high school as a sales girl at a clothing store called “City Blue” in Philadelphia. We worked on commission so only the prettiest and most assertive girls did well. Let’s just say, that wasn’t my calling:) I also worked as a cashier in a drugstore, a camp counselor, and as an assistant for the government.

While getting my BA in journalism, my first job in my field was as a kids advice column writer for Gannet News. Gannet owns USA Today as well as hundreds of local papers around the country. At that time, I obviously did not have my masters degree yet, so I would write the column based on my own opinion and a psychiatrist would review my answers to make sure I wasn’t going to get the paper sued! I loved that gig and it really was the one that inspired me to combine my love for writing along with my work in psychotherapy and start GirlShrink & AskGirlShrink.

Question 7 – Favorite TV, Music or Books?

Ugh, that’s a hard one! I typically like anything romantic for TV and movies. Or anything about spies or agents. I love all types of music including classic rock (Led Zeppelin!), club music, reggae, R&B, pop, salsa, and hip-hop. As far as books, I go through phases. I’ve been reading supernatural books for about 5 years. And of course I am always reading – writing, publishing and internet marketing info. I invest quite a bit in my own continued education.

Last Question – What’s Your Tip For Getting More Done?

I do not get enough sleep according to Bob Greene’s 20 Years Younger:), because I like to work at night. Late night. But that’s not really how I get “more” done. I think the key to that, for me anyway, is to let go of the idea that I have to get everything done on my to-do list.

I create these massive “to-do” lists all the time. Really it’s simply a long-running, never-ending to-do list — but I do not create them to finish in one day. I am simply sorting and prioritizing things. I pick the top 5 things I need to do for that day and I do them, cross the off the list, and select the next 5 for the following day (or week) depending on the length of the to-do item.

Okay – I’m done. Now you’re it!!!

Lisa Angelettie: 10 Things You Don’t Know About Me

August 1, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 3 Comments

If you read US Weekly, you will know this feature. The magazine will often ask a celebrity to list 10 things that their fans don’t know about them. Whether I know (or care:) about the celebrity is irrelevant. I just find the information interesting. So here’s my attempt to share 10 things that maybe some of my regular readers don’t know about me, and I’d like to extend this exercise to all of you as a writing challenge.

Write about 10 things that your readers don’t know about you, publish the article listing those items (including any relevant links), and share it with us (link to it) in the comments section below. Here we go…

1. My favorite non-alcoholic drinks are Fiji Water and Pepsi. I started drinking Pepsi when I was pregnant with my first daughter (Autumn) and ginger ale didn’t seem to be putting a dent into my first few weeks of morning sickness.

2. I wrote in a diary everyday from the time I was 7 until the day (around 24 yrs. old) my then boyfriend, now husband, found my diary and read it! After that – I found other ways to channel my inner thoughts and emotions:)

3. I love designer handbags. My mom bought me my first handbag for Easter when I was about 5. I’ve been wearing them ever since. The most bags I have of one particular designer is Louis Vuitton.

4. I am not into shoes. I can wear the same pair of white sneakers for like 10 years. I buy flip-flops in the summer and Uggs in the winter. Bam! I’m done:)

5. I love Masterpiece Theatre Classic. I love Jane Austen adaptations. The Brontes. Dickinson.

6. I don’t like horror movies. They’re corny!

7. I love urban fantasy, supernatural romance, and science fiction novels. I read a new fiction book weekly.

8. My favorite all-time band is Led Zeppelin.

9. I write my best stuff when I’m singing while I am writing. I like to sing 70’s and 80’s ballads. Right now I’m singing Donny Hathaway.

10. I don’t like to cook. I am a better baker – but I don’t really like sweets:)

Well that’s it for me. Now don’t be shy! Accept the writing challenge and share with us all 10 things about you that we don’t know…

Lisa Angelettie: Apex 2010 Award Winner!

June 26, 2010 By Lisa Angelettie 5 Comments

Yippee!!! I just discovered that this site “Article Marketing Strategies” has been awarded a 2010 Apex Award for Publication Excellence. It was stiff competition this year as only 1/3 of almost 4000 applicants were presented awards, and MANY of the competitors were writers who work at big universities, hospitals, or financial companies.

Many of these writers were hired and are paid to write for their respective companies. In fact, many of these companies have marketing budgets in place to support these guys and gals, so considering that little ‘ole me is hanging out with some pretty good company, I have to admit I’m a bit excited!

If you want to enter your writing (there are a lot of categories to choose from) for the 2011 competition, make sure to drop by the Apex Award site and download an application. (I have no affiliation with this organization, so I don’t benefit in any way whether you enter or not. Just a recommendation:)

First Day Of School!

September 8, 2009 By Lisa Angelettie 3 Comments

This is not one of my usual informational marketing articles today; probably because I’m so darn excited that today is the first day of school for my 3 girls!!! Can I get a high-five across the homes of families everywhere:)

Thanks in part to making a wonderful living online with articles, my family was able to move to Philadelphia to take care of my ailing mother, while still paying for our home in Northern NJ (because who can sell in this market:), while also buying a wonderful new 7 bedroom home in one of the nearby suburbs of Philadelphia. So now the girls will be starting a new school tomorrow, in a great school district, and back to to life as we all know it!

Truth be told, my girls miss school, even with all the opportunities I have had to spend with them this summer. They love learning, school friendships, recess!

So this is part — I’m excited for my girls (who couldn’t get to sleep last night!), because they are excited. Yet this is also part, I’m so excited that I am able to make a living online which is supporting this new school, new home, and a balanced life for all of us. I feel great actually.

If you are new online and are wondering if you can truly ever make a real living at this, or if this is just for the very few online who are in their own little millionaire “clique”, I am here to tell you that you can do this. That it takes work. It takes passion. And it takes good content. But you can make it happen – even in this economy:)

Cheers!

Happy Turkey Day!

November 27, 2008 By Lisa Angelettie 7 Comments

1. I have watched Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving special with my daughters.

2. I have decided where I am going to eat dinner this year, because I have the luck of not having to cook for my family.

3. I have no interest in turkey, but look forward to chillin’ with family — and maybe having a piece of sweet potatoe pie!

4. I have my latest vampire novel, so I’m ready for the ridiculously long drive to sit down and NOT eat turkey. New York City is a beast during the holidays!

5. I am ready and happy to usher in another Thanksgiving holiday with family, with friends, and with all my great article authors. Happy Turkey Day ‘yall!
